iPhone :: Native Blogger App?
Just been checking out the TypePad app for iPhone, and it looks really nice. Write blog posts, post photos etc in a really nice simple interface.
Does Blogger have an app in the works? Is it time for someone else to write one using the Blogger API (no idea how good the API even is!).
The idea app would need:

The idea app would need:
- A nice blog post editor - similar functionality to the current Blogger Rich Text post editor
- Ability to label posts
- Comment Moderation would be nice
- Ability to upload photos from the iPhone camera or photo library
Hi! I was looking for a blogger iPhone App too - the reason I actually want a smartphone is to be able to blog on the go to my existing blogger account, but I don't think it's available yet.
ReplyDeleteI think blogger has a mobile blogging setup, but I'm not sure if it connects to your old blog - seems like once you sign up for one it makes a new blog exclusively for mobile blogging.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Blogger has the ability to email in posts, which I currently use without too much hassle (in blogger it's under settings -> email -> Mail-to-Blogger Address). It's a bit limited tho, and as the iPhone doesn't do HTML email, can't get any nice formatting going on :(. And to get photos onto my blog, I use the flickr email-to-blog service (where flickr can be set up to have an email address that uploads a photo, then posts it to blogger with a template you set up in flickr).
So there is already a few options available on the iPhone, but they are a bit harder than having a nice native app.
I'm also a bit suprised that Google hasn't put out a google reader native app too, for offline rss reading.
My thoughts exactly! It's my one gripe with the iPhone 3G really. Let's start a petition, and while we're at it, let's demand horizontal input for blog posts. :P
ReplyDeleteI was actually just thinking about this! i use the mail-to-blogger workaround now, but i would really like a native blogger application for pretty much the same reasons you have mentioned. only, i would like the added functionality of editing prior blog posts as well.
ReplyDeleteHello from France : just wanted to say that you're not alone to wait for this iphone application to have the ability to manage and post to blogger.
ReplyDeleteMe too ! The application exists in Wordpress.org and other blog systems, so I thing that Google have to do it too !
But Google has so much projects...

Hello from Spain ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. We really need a native Blogger app for iPhone! I've just played some time with the native Wordpress app and it's really great (and will be even better given time, I'm sure)
I hope it comes soon...
Hi from New York!
ReplyDeletei'm also with you, it seems such a logical thing to design a simple app like that.. perhaps someone could design a 3rd party app..?
also, whats up with some apps using the accelerometer and others not?? like email.. duuuuuuuuuuh...
nice blog by the way!

Why not vote for it here http://productideas.appspot.com/#9/e=cf&t=blogger+iphone
ReplyDeleteHello From Australia! We want it too!
ReplyDeletePoland is also waiting for native blogger app ;)
ReplyDeleteLondon wants it too. C'mon google it can't be that difficult to create?
ReplyDeleteI just had a look at the BlogPress in the app store, and I think it'll do the job, but not as well as a Native blogger app...
ReplyDeleteI use the mail-to-blogger as well to post... but to read the various blogs, I use the google reader web app (which is surprisingly userfriendly) - only problem there is that you can't read / post comments properly...
How hard can this be :) ? Blogger should get their act together and sort it out! :)
nice blog.
holland wants it too!!! :D
ReplyDeletei just want a good app, i havent tried one( i'm at work now, and i cant try them) but for what i've read, the apps that already exist are not very good :( but hey i'll wait :D
I've been trying an app called BlogPress, which kinda works, but is too buggy and not many features. Will post more when I'm on a PC next, and let everyone know my experiences blogging on the road ;)
ReplyDeletecheers
